The third edition (2007) of my co-authored book entitled "Standards of Review of Federal Administrative
Tribunals" was recently published by LexisNexis-Butterworths. For
those interested in intellectual property or technology law, there are
individual chapters dedicated to, for example, the Copyright Board of
Canada, the Commissioner of Patents, the Registrar of Trade-marks, the
Information and Privacy Commissioners of Canada, the C.R.T.C. and the
Competition Tribunal.
It was originally
co-authored, and has been revised and updated, with a group of former
law clerks at the Federal Court of Appeal. The book analyzes the
concept of judicial deference generally, and explains the standard of
judicial review applicable to numerous federal decision-makers. Special thanks for helping out with this new edition go to former and current uOttawa law students Steve Seiferling, David Quayat, Indira Stewart, Amanda Chapman, Adam Garskey, Laura Sheppard, Stephanie Cruess, Christina Parkes, Antonia Aphantitis, Philip Graham, Janet Lo, Ismail Ibrahim, Nick Badeen, as well as former Federal Court clerk Ryan Ross.
You can buy the book from the LexisNexis-Butterworths Bookstore or download select parts of it here.
